Βρισκόμασταν και πάλι σ’ ένα δωμάτιο
για να καταγράψουμε τα πρακτικά της δίκης
που είχε διεξαχθεί το σωτήριον έτος 1921,
και αναρωτιόμασταν αν θα μπορούσαμε
με τις φωνές μας, ν’ αποδώσουμε την ατμόσφαιρα
που αιωρήθηκε σε όλη τη διάρκεια των ανταλλαγών.
Κι έπειτα, αφού είχαμε διαβάσει την εισαγωγή,
διεισδύσαμε σιγά-σιγά
σε κείνον τον νοητικό μετασχηματισμό
του θύματος, κατηγορουμένου για φόνο
και του συνηγόρου της ανθρωπότητας
για να πείσουμε τον πρόεδρο
να ελευθερώσει τη δικαιοσύνη.

which took place in the year of grace 1921,
and we were wondering whether we could
with our voices, reenact the atmosphere
which prevailed during the exchanges.

we entered slowly
this mental transformation
of the victim, accused of murder,
and of the advocate of the humanity
to convince the judge
to liberate justice.

Nous étions à nouveau dans une chambre
pour enregistrer les minutes du procès
qui avait eu lieu l’an de grâce 1921,
et nous nous demandions si nous pourrions
à l’aide de nos voix, rendre l’ambiance
